Student Accommodation in Bristol
Studying in Bristol is a superb life choice and often most students will decide to stay on longer term or will at some point return back to live here. What makes Bristol so good for students? We have two very well respected universities, Bristol University & The University of the West of England both offering a great selection of courses.
Once you get past the fact that Bristol has slightly more hills than many other cities you can start deciding on a place to call home. Bristol University students tend to favour areas such as Clifton, Redland, Kingsdown, Hotwells & the City Centre as this is within an easy walk or cycle. The highest density of student accommodation tends to be around Chandos Road & Hampton Road which is easily within a 10 minute walk. This is where you are likely to find your more traditional student houses which are in lovely period properties with the high ceilings and Victorian features. Within more recent years there has been a number of larger studio flat complex’s appearing within the Centre and these tend to be on the higher end of the scale price wise.
If you are trying to work out your budget for rent it would be safe to assume that you are looking from £550-£650PCM if you are in a shared student house within walking distance to the University depending on the spec and location of the property.
UWE students tend live further out from the City in areas like Filton, Horfield, Bishopston and off the Gloucester Road, if you are looking to live as close to University as possible then Stoke Park is the best place for you as it would only be a short walk to campus. With houses located on and off Filton Avenue & the Gloucester Road you are located at more of an equal distance from the Centre and University and there are regular buses either way. The houses in Filton will tend to be 3 or 4 bedroom terraced properties, however if you are looking for larger houses you may want to look closer to the Gloucester Road and Bishopton.
The prices mentioned here would not include bills – as a full time student you are not liable for council tax but you will need to inform the council with your student number in order to avoid a bill coming through the post at a later stage.
